Latin Name: Elettaria cardamomum
 

Properties: Pungent, warm, aromatic bouquet, flavour: warm and eucalyptine with camphorous and lemony undertones; digestive, appetite stimulant, aphrodisiac, analgetic, carminative.

Fields of application: Cardamom stimulates the appetite, helps in strengthening digestive activities, averts heartburn and curbs nausea. It warms the body and abates headaches. The ancient Indians regarded it as a cure for obesity. Can be used to treat infections in teeth and gums, stomach-aches, constipation, dysentery, to prevent and treat throat troubles, congestion of the lungs and pulmonary tuberculosis, inflammation of eyelids. It is also reportedly used as an antidote for both snake and scorpion venom.
